July’s Full Moon Magic
What is the Buck Moon?
The July full moon, known as the Buck Moon, was named after the time of year when bucks grow their new pairs of antlers. The name originated among Native American tribes in North America, and can also be called the Thunder Moon due to the prevalence of seasonal thunder storms in the region, as well as the Hay Moon or the Wort Moon due to the harvesting of those plants coinciding with this lunar event. The Buck Moon symbolizes strength, renewal, growth, and overcoming obstacles. Interestingly, the July full moon is the furthest full moon from the sun of the whole year.
Buck Moon Rituals
Candle Lighting: Candle lighting is a valuable full moon ritual in general, and though it seems odd in the middle of summer, lighting a candle on the night of the Buck Moon to symbolize the return of the sun is fitting due to the increased distance between the sun and the moon during this time.
Moon Bathing: Set aside some time in the night to enjoy some moon bathing for both you AND your crystals! Crystals charge under the full moon, and you will also absorb the benefits as you breathe deeply, gaze at the moon, and allow the energy to flow through you.
Request Guidance: Set your goals or intentions and request guidance for scenarios requiring strength. This is the perfect time to connect to spirit guides or the universe in general regarding anything you have been struggling with related to either physical or emotional strength by using the energy of this particular full moon.
